Forever chemicals, with the study behind each number.

The Forever Chemicals Index records PFAS measurements that published studies reported in food, water, packaging, and other goods. PFAS are a large group of fluorinated chemicals. Some of them last a long time in the environment, which is why they are called forever chemicals.

How to read a page

Each quoted number is copied from a cited source, with the unit, the basis, and the place in that source. Studies use different samples and methods, so the numbers are not one ranking. If this repository has no number for a chemical or a category, the page says so. An empty section is a gap. It is not a finding that the chemical is absent, and it is not an endorsement of a product.

The index is part of the Institute of Contaminant Standards reference network, and a sister site of the Heavy Metal Index.
